What I Couldn’t Hold

It rained inside where hurt once lived,
A calm that felt like healing’s start.
I followed light that wasn't mine,
Knowing it would never stay.
I thought the ache had learned to sleep,
That peace had finally found its place.
But stillness cracked, and light withdrew,
And silence filled the empty space.
I woke inside the fire again,
The weight returned I’d tried to hide.
Not loss, but what had kept me whole
Now gone, and something in me died.
